Cymie Yeung believes everyone has the rights to learn, appreciate and enjoy the arts. She started her career in equal rights of arts participation and inclusion since 2008, participating in planning, development and coordination of various accessible events, such as theatre performances, exhibitions, outdoor festivals, etc. She joined the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in 2016, assisting the development and implementation of policy and guidelines on universal accessibility for the cultural district. With enormous interest in anti-discrimination law and rights of persons with disabilities, she focused her research on equality and cultural rights of persons with disabilities, and completed an LLM in Human Rights at the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong with distinction in 2019. She also received the LEAD® Award for Emerging Leaders from The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts the same year.
